Okay, so it’s not exactly 42, but it’s still pretty cool.
As you may or almost definitely may not know, the Burns and Allen radio program had an running joke (punintended) during the 1940 election that Gracie was running for presidential office as the Surprise Party candidate. For her campaign, she published a book containing ” photographs from their nationwide campaign tour and the Surprise Party convention.” (x) She was even endorsed by Harvard University!
As a result, 42,000 people voted for Gracie Allen as a write-in candidate.
I was watching a livestream of an illustration by Elena of elioli art and the number of viewers was The Answer for a little while.
